Gaudì’s Carob

Park Güell is one of Gaudì's masterpieces, notably for its use of lines of slanted columns to create viaduct-like passageways. An old carob tree stood in the way of one of the viaducts. The architect refused to have it cut and simply built around it. The tree far outlived the man who spared it and still bears fruit...
