Priceless Jewel

A fishermen's village on the Canal des Pangalanes, Makanara, Madagascar. This little girl was sitting on the shore, watching the returning pirogues unloading the morning's catch. A boy walked by and handed her one small fish that glittered silver in the dim light. Her eyes lit up with unspeakable joy, as if she had been waiting for nothing else, and she resumed her quiet contemplation with a treasure clutched in her hand.
